4 T’s of Tuesday

Morning Runner Girl’s 100th post is coming up this week!! Stay tuned 🙂

I just want to point out that I was not trying to be all cute with “Tuesday” and things that start with “T”… it just happened that way. No really, I promise!

Here we go:

  • Tempo
  • Taper
  • Temperature
  • Tea

Tempo

Saturday was my last “big” run! I did 10 miles…. and I did not mean to tempo it, but it just sort of happened. I didn’t look at my watch the entire run so I had no idea what my pace was. I just ran by feel. I felt light and strong! Getting in some quick turnover was great for my legs and has me so so SO excited for Richmond!

Taper

With that said, I have received wonderful advice from you all regarding tapering. I am being so super duper careful and really taking it easy. In fact, I may be tapering “too” much. But I am 100% ok with this, because I am so excited over how I am healthy! I am making it to the start line with my body in one piece and a smile on my face! I feel very blessed for this… it is so easy to get injured throughout the looooong training process.

No matter how I do in Richmond, I am thankful that I am not at all burnt out on running (which I ABSOLUTELY WAS for my first marathon) and I am not injured. To me, I am already a winner!

Temperature

My weather on my phone has all the key cities that I am constantly checking up on.

  • Bloomington–Where I go to school, south of Indianapolis….
  • Richmond— Whoohoo!! 4 days!
  • Denver— Ya… I just love looking at my phone and seeing “Denver” 🙂
  • New York— Where my sister lives ((gotta make sure she is stayin’ safe!))
  • Chicago— I have been there so frequently for races this season…
  • San Juan— Where I will be catching a cruise ship from December 27 🙂

The weather for Richmond is lookin just fine! I do pretty well in the cold (actually, the heat too…) so regardless, as long as it is not raining with a windstorm in freezing temps, I am happy!

Tea

You guys know I am a Coffee Girl. A very serious coffee girl… I drink lots and lots and lots. All Black, and all different flavors. But, interestingly enough (or not ha) I also love tea!! Anyone ever been to Teavana? It is purely a tea store where they must create 100 tea flavors. It is gorgeous inside and the best smelling place you will walk into. I went to Teavana for the first time last weekend and walked out with 2 ounces of White Chocolate Peppermint for 10$ Yes… it was expensive… but Hey, When in Rome, right?! (or something like that…) This tea is AMAZING! Totally worth the price! I wish I could transfer the smell via the internet…

Please checkout this store and buy something online… they have it divided into naturally caffeine free, caffeinated, and decaffeinated. And in each of those categories there are about 50 choices of Roobios, Herbal, Black, Green, Oolong, etc. Check it out!

That is all from me! I have another exam today I am, again, ill prepared for due to a very fun-filled weekend! So fingers crossed on this one!

Have a Terrific Tuesday (yes, that one I was being cute lame!)

Favorite Tea OR Coffee?!

  1. I like tea once in awhile, but I’m definitely a coffee girl.

Weather…well, I wasn’t expecting high 80s and sunny for my half this weekend, but that’s what I got. It’s still brutal here! I’m waiting for fall!

    1. wow it is hot there!!!! Lucky girl… i scraped my car this morning! ahhh

  2. For two weeks before my marathon I checked the weather constantly. Seriously, I think I checked it at the very least twice an hour. The entire time the forecast was calling for 30 mph gusts and I was stressed beyond belief. Luckily, the gusts were only in the lower 20s while I was running, but the wind speed was consistently in the teens. I hate running in the wind. Ugh. I hope you have marvelous weather for your marathon.

I seriously think you will run amazingly fast if you taper well this week. I qualified for Boston with a 3:16.41 and I absolutely think you will smash my time because you are so much faster than me. I can’t wait to hear how you do. I think that I am almost excited for your marathon as I was for mine. I don’t know if you check out msfitrunner’s blog, but I don’t think she ran for the entire week prior to her marathon and she ran a 2:48. Crazy!!!!

    1. haha you are so so sweet for saying all of that, but WOW you did a 3:16!!??? I would love to do under a 3:30! that is my goal! you are crazy fast!!
Your excitement and WONDERUFL advice means the world to me!! Thank you so much!! 🙂

Yes I love msfitrunner and I think you are right… she definitely had a significant taper (for her at least!) That is a great point.

Anyways, we will see! I just want to have fun and be proud of my effort! We all know that sometimes races go GREAT…and other times they don’t! Fingers crossed!

  3. I am definitely more of a coffee girl, but I do go through phases of loving tea. And, during the summer, I LOVE iced tea. There was a Teavana on the upper east side I use to pass on my way home every night, but I actually never went in! Sometimes I would take the free samples they left outside though 🙂

    1. Yes the free samples are what grabbed my attention… then it slowly sucked me in…. and then convinced me to overpay for an admittedly WONDERFUL cup of tea 🙂 they are good….

I will always be a coffee girl at heart too

  4. Love coffee! But I try to make sure I’m drinking tea for the herbs as well! Next time I see Teavana, I’ll make sure I go in!
Hahahaha I have 6 places I check up on, and Denver is one of mine too.
CAN NOT wait for your race this weekend!! You’re going to do so great!!!
    Have a great Tuesday 🙂

    1. Yes give it a try and let me know!
Glad to see you are a frequent weather-checker too!!! Thanks for the excitement for me!!! I hope i have FUN!! most important! 🙂

  5. Believe it or not, I have never had a cup of coffee. I do drink the crap out of some tea though! I loved Teavana when I first discovered it, but you know what, I haven’t been to their store in years. I think I forgot about them – maybe I stopped going because of the prices. Maybe I should go back! Thanks for the reminder!

    1. I think my jaw hit the ground when I read this first statement. WHAT??!? haha that is impressive! Anyways… glad you drink tea! it is wonderful as well, and probably lots “better” for you ((although I argue that coffee is extremely healthy 🙂 ))

      1. Haha, yeah, just never had an urge to. Love the smell, but never drank a cup. Most people think that is pretty odd!
I do hear that black coffee is good for you (depending on how much you drink though!)

  6. I like sleepy time tea… I’m not really a fan of coffee, but I had a chai tea latte last week and I loved it. So so delish! I check the weather of Florida (where I live), Myrtle Beach (where I graduated from), Chicago (where I’m from, and so sad to see it’s so cold and I’ll be there next month), and Key Largo (where I frequently visit).

    1. yess sleepy time tea really does knock me out!! Yay for following the weather all over the place! I love it for some reason…! ahh key largo— take me there now!!!

  7. I am a big tea person and I love walking past Teavana at the mall! It always smells amazing and they usually have some tasty free samples by the door!

    1. Yep, the samples are the greatest and are what pulled me in… they are good at marketing haha Treat yourself one day and buy a few ounces of tea 🙂
